Pathways to Volunteering

Volunteering is not only a great way to help people and do good work within the community - it can be a part of your career plan and help you get into the career you want.
Community Skillsbank works closely with voluntary and community sector organisations across the region, making it easier for people to find the right kind of volunteering opportunity.
Our service to volunteers goes further than advising who to speak to for more information, and who to contact for the best opportunities. We help you to become volunteer ready.

Our one hour Pathway session tells you all about the:
  • Benefits of volunteering
  • Principles of volunteering
  • Your rights and responsibilities and responsibilities as a volunteer
  • Organisations rights and responsibilities to their volunteers
  • Volunteer insurance, duty of care and safety

And much more to make sure you are ready to start your volunteer journey. Please contact Community Skillsabnk for bookings and additional information.

Volunteer Training - Getting Started

Volunteering is an important part of your career.

Your career incorporates everything that you do in your life.

What you learn through participation in voluntary work can help you get the career you love.

People who do the things they love are generally happier and healthier.

Getting
Started

Develop
your
Plan

The hardest thing about volunteering is motivation.

Community Skillsbank can help you set a plan, find an opportunity that reflects your goals, research pathways to get you started, train you to be volunteer ready and commit to reviewing your progress as required.

You know yourself and what you want to achieve.

Let us know:-
What you enjoy and don't enjoy
What interests you, what doesn't interest you
What you're good at doing and what you're not good at doing
What you value

And we will help you identify:-
What learning you can gain through volunteering
What you need in a voluntary role
What voluntary work will be beneficial to your life in general
What role will best suit your needs

Preparing
for
Interviews

Community Skillsbank will advise who you will be dealing with, what is expected of you as a volunteer and what you can expect from the community organisation or group and why you want to be accepted into their organisation.

Enjoy your journey through volunteering.

You will discover new opportunities along the way.
